This ride is a group of friends that ride as riders or passengers. The goal is to have fun. The ride is not organized or associated with any motorcycle club or group i.e. EKWR, EKTR, HOG, etc. We are all individual riders/passengers riding together.
Each rider is responsible for riding their own ride in a manner in which they feel safe and in their comfort zone. There will be comfort, gas, food, and sightseeing stops. We will not try to ride in groups as CB communications are not widely used on newer bikes. It is suggested that riders buddy up with folks they normally ride with who have Bluetooth paired with each other, ride in smaller pods and stay together in that manner.
We will leave each morning at 8am unless noted otherwise on the daily plan. Please be on your bike and ready to go. We will have a rider's meeting 15 minutes before departure to make sure we all know the daily plan and to discuss any group issues.
Ride stops will be planned for every 100 to 125 miles or 1-2 hours for comfort and gas--but of course if anyone needs to stop sooner, stop as required.
You are responsible for yourself and your motorcycle. Ride your own ride.
You are also responsible for helping to ensure the safety of other riders. Be aware of how your movements may affect other riders and telegraph your intentions to other riders.
You should also be familiar with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Guide to Group Riding. Read it again just to make sure you remember everything you think you remember. Click here for a PDF file to download or print
We request that you email the ride coordinator(s)your name, bike make model and color, and cell phone number.
Since CB radios are not common on more modern bikes, the ride coordinators will not monitor or use CBs. If you are riding with others that have CB radios, please communicate with them the channels you will use.
Some of the riders will have Bluetooth and Mesh communications available via Packtalk, Sena, etc devices. Dan has recently installed a Packtalk Edge on his and Ellen’s helmets.
A MapLap Mesh group will be created. Depending on what software revisions come out prior to the ride will determine how the group is created and how we pair together. Dan will try to keep these details up to date in this communication section.
Whether you have a radio or not, help each other out and be familiar with and use the hand signals included in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Guide to Group Riding.
The buddy system should be used in the event of an emergency such as an accident or mechanical failure. The buddies should stop and render assistance and get emergency help as required.
We ask that each rider prepare an emergency information packet for first responders or medical staff and give this packet to a ride leader or another rider for safekeeping. This information will be supplied to first responders or medical staff if and only if required. The information you provide is totally up to you but we suggest that at a minimum your emergency information should include the following personal, medical, and insurance information.
Please seal your information in an envelope.
On the flap side of the envelope print your name and write "Emergency Information" under your name.
On the other side of the envelope please self-address the envelope. The address can be used to get your sealed envelope back you if you forget to get it at the end of the ride.
Please give the sealed envelope to one of your buddy riders or at least make sure they know where the information is located on your bike.
