General Ride Information
Updated 5/9/2025
- A new name and new rides with some ride rule changes. You might remember previous rides as Ride Around or Border Rides.
- The changes:
- We will not try to keep groups. Most new bikes do not have CBs and most folks that ride together use bluetooth to keep in contact with their friends. So basically, we will ride as small pods of riders or single riders.
- Each person should know how to get to their gas and nightly stops.
Probably will not make reservations for lunch or dinner places. Lunch may depend on how many we end up interested in making the ride.
- Dan Gray will be the coordinator again this year. To send an email to the ride coordinator(s) click here
- We will leave on Wednesday, 20 August and return on Thursday, 28 August. The ride will begin at Trex Mart, 101 Tracy Dr., Platte City, MO 64079, at 8:30am. See the daily specific pages for meeting and kickstands up times.
- The routes, destinations, and distances are listed for each day. See Daily Ride Plan pages which also include planned stops.
- Each rider is responsible for making their own lodging arrangements for each day. There is a suggested hotel for each night, but feel free to make alternate arrangements. See the hotel data page.
- There will not be group reservations made for restaurants each day. The ride coordinators will list where they plan to eat and expected arrival times. See the restaurant page for this information.
- This year’s ride will have some planned site seeing stops. See the ride plan page for details.
- Each rider is free to choose whether to participate in all or any part of the ride. There should be enough detail on this site to help you with meeting up with us at any time.
- UPDATE 5/9/2025 -- MN STATE PARK FEES.
As of today, I counted 7 Minnesota State Parks in the ride plan. The daily fee to enter a Minnesota State Park in $7. On the Minnesota State Parks website, you can buy a year pass for a motorcycle for $30. These can be purchased on-line at MN Department of Natural Resources, or at some sites within the state (check the website for locations). Ellen and I decided to purchase the yearly pass for the $30 online. It took about a week to get here in the mail.
Just wanted to let everyone know this option as it could save money if you also plan to visit all the parks currently on our ride plan.--Dan
